The coffees served at Dunkin Donuts possess an exceptional flavor that distinguishes them from other coffee chains. The secret to their distinctive taste lies in the creamer Dunkin Donuts incorporates into their drinks, which lends a unique twist. Intrigued by this revelation, I considered crafting my own rendition of a homemade Dunkin Donut-inspired creamer.
Dunkin’ Donuts Creamer Recipe
You can tailor this recipe’s richness, sweetness, or flavor according to your preferences by selecting heavy or light cream. You can also choose regular or fat-free milk for a dairy option or plant-based milk like soy, coconut, and almond milk for a dairy-free creamer.
Equipment
- Deep bowl or blender
- Saucepan
- Whisk
- Airtight jar
Ingredients
- 1 cup light cream (aka single cream or table cream)
- 1½ cups sweetened condensed milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract (optional if you want to make a flavored creamer)
- 2 Tablespoons granulated sugar (optional, for added sweetness according to your preference)
Instructions
1. In a saucepan, combine the light cream and granulated sugar (if desired). Heat the ingredients on medium heat until the sugar dissolves, stirring until the ingredients are well combined.
2. In a mixing bowl, combine the light cream and dissolved sugar mix, sweetened condensed milk, and vanilla extract (if desired). Whisk until the ingredients are well combined.
3. Taste the mixture and adjust the sweetness to your preference. Add more sugar if desired. Dunkin Donuts Extra Extra Creamer is known for its sweetness, so you may want to add more sugar to replicate a similar flavor.
4. Transfer the mixture to the airtight container once it is well combined and sweetened to your liking.
5. Once the creamer has cooled, store it in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
6. Separation can occur, so remember to shake or stir the creamer well before each use.
Notes
When making vanilla-flavored creamer, always use pure vanilla extract for optimal taste. To intensify the rich vanilla flavor, ensure that you only add it after removing the mixture from
Heat to prevent evaporation and dilution of the flavor.
It’s important to remember that this recipe is an estimate of the Extra Extra creamer’s flavor, and it may not be an exact match. You can slightly adjust the ingredients to suit your taste preferences to help create a creamer that closely resembles the desired flavor and consistency of Extra Extra Creamer.
Dunkin’ Donuts Creamer
Dunkin Donuts is a dairy product made with skim milk and widely used branded creams like Hood, Borden, or Dairypure, which can easily be found in your local stores. However, some opt for a unique light cream recipe by mixing whole milk with skimmed milk and heavy cream.
Flavor
Dunkin’ Donuts also provides two types of coffee creamers, Dunkin’ Donuts Creamer and Extra Extra Creamer. The difference between the two is their unique flavor profiles.
The flavor of the original Dunkin Donut creamer, made with skim milk, sugar, and cream, can be described as luscious, velvety, rich, and creamy, with the flavored creamer like caramel, vanilla, and hazelnut adding unique characteristics to enhance the creamy foundation of the original recipe.
The Extra Extra Creamer stands out for its delicious extra creaminess and sweetness, surpassing the typical Dunkin’ Donuts Creamers. Its formula, made with real cream and sugar, aims to increase your coffee with extra sweetness and a creamier note. It is also available in caramel and vanilla flavors.
Calories, Fat, & Sugar Content
There is not much difference in the different creamers’ calories, fat, and sugar content.
The original creamer is the lowest in content, with 25 calories per serving of 15ml (1 tablespoon). It contains 1g fat and 2g sugar per serving.
The Extra Extra range contains 35 calories per serving of 15ml (1 tablespoon), with 1.5g fat and 5g sugar. In contrast, the flavored vanilla and caramel have 6g of sugar per serving.
Where Can I Buy It?
Dunkin’ Donuts Creamers are regularly stocked in numerous retail locations for consumers to buy. You can shop at your local store or supermarket, and you can also shop online for your favorite creamer.
Dunkin’ Donuts creamers can generally be found in the coffee and creamer aisles of leading grocery stores alongside other brands offering coffee creamers.

Thanks for the recipe. I tried it and did a taste test with the actual creamer, but this recipe is too sweet and thick. What I found to be better was (1) empty a 14oz can of sweetened condensed milk into a quart sized mason jar (or other container), (2) add 2 Tbs sugar, (3) fill with Half-n-Half, and then stir/shake to combine. It is just slightly thicker, so maybe replace a little bit of Half-n-Half with whole milk. No vanilla needed to match the original Extra Extra creamer.
